They talk about Dally’s attitude towards women and Cherry mutters that she kind of admires him. Pg 33 Cherry explains that they are not innocent when Ponyboy is offended but that they are not dirty like Dally. Pg 32 Cherry explains to the boys that they are too nice to be scared of. Ponyboy is still shocked by Johnny’s actions when the girls ask them to sit with them. Pg 31 Dally leaves and the girls thank Johnny. Dally goes to put his arm around the girl and Johnny stops him. Cherry throws the coke at Dally and says it might cool him off. They ask why Soda is not seen at school and Ponyboy explains that he is a “dropout”. Cherry knows of Soda and of his good looks. Pg 29 Ponyboy explains that he is a Greaser. Cheery asks Ponyboy why he hangs out with “trash like that” We learn the Ponyboy was put up a year at school.
The girl introduces herself as Sherri (Cherry). Pg 28 Dally leaves and one of the girls starts to speak to Ponyboy. Pg 27 The girls ask Dally to leave them alone or they will call the cops. She is a cheerleader at Ponyboy’s school. One of the girls tells Dally to take his feet off her chair and shut up. Ponyboy makes reference to the girls not being “our kind”. Pg 26 Dally is talking dirty very loud to get a reaction out of the girls. They go to the movies and even though they have the money Ponyboy tells us that they will not pay as Dally likes to show he will break all laws. Pg 25 They watch a fight but leave when the switch blades come out as the cops would arrive soon after. They then go to a Greasers hangout looking for any gossip. Pg 24 Ponyboy and Johnny meet Dally early and they hang around the shopping center where Dally shoplifts.
